Tips to Find the Perfect Office Space for Your Operation
If your company is looking to capitalize on its growth potential, you will likely need to acquire additional office space to accommodate more staff members. The question is: what is the best way to find this office space? In order to make your decision, you should consider a few details that can make the difference when leasing or purchasing an office building.
Location
Depending on the size of your company, you may be looking to consolidate all of your resources into one location or add an additional center of operations to your business. The difference in these two reasons is great, especially in regards to where you want your office space to be located. Typically, the best location for an office is in a business district of a city or town, not necessarily downtown, but not far away from civilization either. But if your business is flexible and looking to reduce its tax burden, you may be able to find a smaller municipality a few miles outside of your original headquarters that promises many of the same benefits of a larger city, while giving your company more potential for profit.
Accessibility
Closely tied in to the concept of office space location is accessibility. If your business welcomes clients into its office, you should attempt to secure a site off a major city street or relatively close to a highway. Again, all is dependent on your business’s unique situation. You may wish to locate farther from the city in a less accessible region for the sake of privacy or to give your business an aura of exclusivity. Of you may want to lease a section of a prominent building in your town or city so that customers and potential employees can easily find you.
Condition
Once you have found a general region that suits the needs of your business, it is time to assess the space available in that area. While a brand new state-of-the-art facility may be an excellent choice if your business can afford to purchase or lease it, you should also consider some well-maintained spaces that have been built for longer than a couple months, if those are available in your area. Hopefully, by now, you will be able to narrow your search to only a few available buildings, from which to choose the right one for your business.
As a final note, remember that your business’s needs are likely different from every business in the industry. If you operate an accounting firm, you likely don’t need a refrigerated storage center included in your lease. And if you are a law firm, you probably won’t find a use for a multiple-bay loading dock. Pick what’s best for your company by selecting office space that is the right size, at the right location, readily accessible to clients and staff, and at the price range that is best for your business.
